Theatre of the Oppressed: An Introduction to the Work of Augusto Boal
Practical experience with theatre development and
production or at least one college level course in theatre is required.
This course provides students with an overview of
the theories and methods of a seminal theatre arts educator, Augusto Boal,
and the important influences that have informed his work. Students gain
experience researching, devising and managing a performance of their own
“Theatre of the Oppressed” event as part of a final project.
This course is offered in association with the Paul A. Kaplan Center for
Educational Drama of the
CUNY
Creative Arts Team.
