The CUNY School of Professional Studies (CUNY SPS) is proud to announce that the BA in Human Relations (HRL) is now being offered as a fully online asynchronous program as of summer 2021. This online format will provide students with greater scheduling flexibility, and enable those outside of the New York area to attend more easily as well.

“The shift from in-person to online classes liberates our current and future students, making it possible to engage in schoolwork by their own clocks and avoid the hassles, time, and cost to commute  to classes, while continuing to be stimulated by fresh ways of learning together with fellow students—near and far—who join us in this fascinating and always pertinent exploration of workplace relationships,” said Dr. Bonnie Oglensky, professor and academic director of sociology and human relations programs at CUNY SPS.

The first degree of its kind at CUNY, the CUNY SPS BA in Human Relations prepares students to understand and skillfully respond to the challenges and possibilities of social and interpersonal relations in 21st century workplaces. By offering multidisciplinary and practice-focused curricula at the undergraduate and graduate level, the program seeks to build student capacity to effectively address the human needs and demands of evolving workplaces.

In addition to the HRL program, the Advanced Certificate in Management (ACM) will also be transitioning to a fully online format starting in 2022. Students in this certificate program, many of whom are employees representing different workplace sectors, enroll to study key elements of contemporary management and to become better managers, as well as to understand employee motivation, supervision, and management of financial resources in organizations.

“From an advising perspective, the shift from in-person to online not only opens up our HRL/ACM programs to new students from all over the state, the country and beyond, but it also better serves our current students. As students’ lives evolve and change, their program can now adapt with them,” said Lianna L. Scull, assistant director of the sociology and human relations programs at CUNY SPS.

With this format change, the BA in Human Relations is the latest to join CUNY SPS’s roster of acclaimed online degree programs, for which the School has earned top ratings. Most recently, the School was ranked in the top 2% of the U.S. News & World Report’s list of 2021 Best Online Bachelor’s Degree Programs.
