Why did you elect psychology as your major?

Human relationships are complex. For one to better understand human complexities, there is the need to study their ways. Thus, I selected psychology to provide me with the needed knowledge and skills to understand humans.

Why did you choose to continue your education online at CUNY SPS? 

I chose to continue my education online because the classes are flexible and the professors are ready to help in your career development.

How does the degree relate to your career that you have OR the career that you want? What do you love most about this field?

I work in a hospital that assists the vulnerable. I'm at the forefront of helping people. Before one can do that efficiently there is the need to understand all aspects of humans, especially in the periods of vulnerability. Thus, this degree will provide me the skills to understand humans both in their normal and vulnerable states.

What was your motivation for returning to school for your bachelor’s degree?

To achieve my dream of becoming a psychologist.

Which aspects of the program have you enjoyed most thus far?

I have really enjoyed critical thinking aspect of the program so far.

In which track are you currently enrolled in and what intrigues you about this specific track?

I'm specializing in the Psychological Development because I want to be a family and child counselor.

What is your relationship like with your classmates and professors?

I have a very good relationship with my classmates. We discuss and I ask them questions if I don’t understand anything. I email my professor as well if I have questions about the course.

Which professional or personal goals do you think you achieved while at CUNY SPS?

I am now able to excel in my professional exams through the various skills I learned at CUNY SPS. These skills include communication, analytical, writing etc.

What kind of impact do you think your degree will have on your career/life?

The degree will help me better understand human relations and processes.

What’s the greatest piece of advice you’ve received while at CUNY SPS?

That I should read, read, read every day, especially anything relevant I see. Also, I’ve been given the great advice to be time conscious.

What advice would you offer someone considering applying for admission to your program? 

Psychology is a great program with different opportunities. If you are really determined, you can make it. Online programs are extremely convenient, but you need to have time for your assignments, readings, and presentations. You must be time conscious. You need to log in to blackboard every day.
