"This degree directly relates to the career I want. I want to be a Business Analyst and the degree exposes me to both the technical and business sides of an organization."

Why did you choose to continue your education at CUNY SPS?  Why the online BS in Information Systems?

I chose CUNY SPS because their online programs have received and continue to earn great reviews. I also knew that I needed a program that not only was going to be of great quality, but that was also going to be convenient.

I chose the online BS in Information Systems because it was a great way for me to get technical knowledge without having to take in-person classes. I hated the commute to and from school, and this program solved that issue for me.

Did you ever think that you would enroll in an online program?

Definitely! Prior to attending CUNY SPS, I took a few courses of which half of the class time was held online and the other half on campus. I preferred those hybrid classes. However, I still hated the commute, so I knew that an online program would be the best fit for me.

What was your motivation for returning to complete your bachelor’s degree?

Today, you need a minimum of a bachelor’s degree to get a good-paying job, so that was my motivation. I know I needed to have at least a bachelor’s degree.

Which aspects of the program have you enjoyed most so far?

I enjoy everything about the program. I love the flexibility it offers. I also love that I have a set schedule for deadlines so every week we know I know the work that is due for that particular day. It makes it easier for me to work around that set schedule.

What is your relationship like with your classmates and professors?

I have a great relationship with both my classmates and professors. I was able to develop great friendships with people I have never met in person. It’s amazing!

How does the degree relate to your career that you have OR the career that you want?

This degree directly relates to the career I want. I want to be a Business Analyst and the degree exposes me to both the technical and business sides of an organization.

Which professional or personal goals would you like to achieve during your time at CUNY SPS?

I would like to be able to be fully versed in all the concepts that I am going to need in the working world.

In which ways, have you grown so far as a result of your studies at CUNY SPS?

I feel my communication skills have improved. In certain classes, you must discuss topics with your classmates and this helped me become more comfortable with discussing issues.

What’s the greatest piece of advice you’ve received while at CUNY SPS?

Become an expert at time management. To excel in online courses, you must know how to manage your time so that you won’t be left behind.

What advice would you offer someone considering applying for admission to your program?  What advice can you offer someone who is juggling, school, work, and other obligations?

You can do it but you must be disciplined. I was able to work and go to school full-time by managing my time well. Procrastination is sometimes a weakness we all face but you have to be dedicated to getting the work done so that you can complete your degree.

What do you hope to do after graduating from CUNY SPS?  What does your future look like?

I hope to become a Business Analyst.
