Richard Shein is the chief financial officer for the New-York Historical Society (N-YHS). At N-YHS, he is responsible for all financial aspects of the $30 million non-profit organization, including accounting, budgeting, cash management, policy analysis, capital accounting, and payroll. He also supervises the IT, web, and retail departments, and provides support for the Board’s investment, finance, and audit committees. Prior to joining N-YHS, he was budget director at the American Museum of Natural History, associate budget director at Columbia University, a former senior manager at Deloitte Consulting, and a U.S. Presidential Management Fellow. Mr. Shein received a master’s degree in Public Administration and a bachelor’s degree in Natural Resource Economics both from The Ohio State University. As a faculty member of CUNY School of Professional Studies MA in Museum Studies program, he teaches required courses such as MST 630 – Museum Administration, Finance, and the Law.
